 | New VDE Standard VDE 0620-1:2010-02 for plugs and sockets, Appendix D: Requirements for crimps: | | The new crimp regulations have the aim of ensuring process-safe crimping. Crimp connections „must have suffi cient electrical and mechanical properties“ (EN 60352-2). The crimping process and the crimping must be documented and traceable at any time. Prior to series production, a process capability of the implemented tool must be carried out on at least 50 test samples. At the same time, the following criteria have to be documented (lower and upper limits):
- Crimp height or - Removal force or - Voltage drop of the crimp connection
In the event of approval testing (for example, by VDE-TCI), all crimp connections have to be photographically documented from 3 sides. Or more accurately: VDE takes photos of the side view, the top view and a perspective view and checks during manufacturing audits whether the crimping of the submitted samples and that of production are identical. Adhering to this regulation, the quality of the crimping takes on a much higher value than was previously the case. Bad crimps can lead to overheating and risk of fi re. Thus, the introduction of the new regulations is an important step towards implementing a high and secure standard quality. The detailed text can be found in VDE 0620-1:2010-02, Appendix D. TALLER has been advocating the gastight crimping philosophy for years and thus has already fulfi lled the new regulations for many years. Our BASICcrimp, ECOcrimp and PROcrimpline crimping machines are state-of-theart. With our machines, you will have no problems fulfi lling the crimping regulations.
